You cant get power that destructive with arms lol.

But maybe his technique was a little off?

To me it seems like thats the one area of skill that he had down to a high degree ie his body mechanics.

Foreman always had a bit of arm punching in him.... But he knew when to sit down on punches as well

When he was younger, he wasn't the best ring general and would get over anxious in exchanges and would sometimes fling away with arm punches

When he was older, he was a much better ring general, and would pick his shots by using quick arm punches to measure and position his opponent for a power punch bomb

Foreman's right hand bomb, which lifted Frazier off the canvas was a perfectly executed punch. Thrown from his legs, with a slight twist at the waist to maximize power through the punches delivery.

why is a slight twist at the waist perfect surely getting max range of motion for the torque would be better?

punching power comes from the back of the thighs

            Huge myth imo.

Foreman put a lot of body weight into his punches, he just had a slightly different technique, swinging his arms wide for hooks and uppercuts which made it look like they were arm punches.

Even as a fat old man his right leg pivots, his hips twist, and his shoulders rotate into the punch:

Foreman was an arm puncher? GTFOH!!

****, if he was an arm puncher, I'd hate to see what he would have done if he put his weight behind it!

He did punch both ways, but it's definitely a misconception that he was a strict arm puncher. One of the times he did it was in that exhibition show where he did the comical windmill uppercuts. Some of them landed hard but had no effect on the opponent. A Foreman uppercut was thrown with the whole body and nobody can eat that up.
