he didn't throw nearly the amount of power punches as he did against Brewster. he was throwing mostly jabs and occasional right hands without full force against peter but threw everything but the kitchen sink with bad intent on brew. not sure what the punch stats were on this but wlad was definitely committing to his punches more in the brew fight which would expend more energy

I remember Emanuel Steward who was commentating on HBO during the Williamson fight saying he thought Wlad should retire when he got knocked down by Williamson and was on rubber legs when he got up.
huh? steward was working wlads corner in the Williamson fight and never stated such a thing. wlad got up on steady legs and was clear eyed. he actually won the rest of the round. that was just an off balance flash knockdown. hes been much more hurt in other fights

I'm wrong here...that was Showtime and Steward WAS in Wlad's corner. He briefly went back to his old trainer after he moved back to Germany and then return to Steward later. Maybe that had something to do with Steward's comment but I even remember the tone he used...similar to when Mayweather sucker punched Ortiz...it was a very disappointed tone. And he was definitely wobbled. Not the Williamson fight though...my bad.

Maybe I'm thinking of Ross Puritty...I can't remember so I will say I'm mistaking here unless I can find it.

This is Steve Pannell 1998 on short notice...but this is not who I was thinking of. It's really bugging me because I'm sure I saw something with Steward commentating but I can't find it. Maybe I'm confusing this with something else. I vaguely remember watching a fight on I think Showtime and then the Klitchko fight coming up right after on HBO...

Jaded, is that your dog in your profile pic? Just curious, as I'm a dog lover/trainer.

Wlad was out on his feet before Brewster even landed a punch. He was clearly drugged or had some sickness.

LOL there was nothing su****ious going on here, Wlad had poor stamina, he had shown it before and he showed it again, against a teek tough opponent who wasn't going to fade away. Wlad was also not as strong mentally as he is now, when he started to wilt, he didn't have the fortitude to push on.

if it wasn't for the purrity fight I wouldn't have ruled that out but wlad had the same problem in that bout. he threw too many power punches in both fights and didn't pace himself properly. plain and simple

If "gassing out" is code for getting his chin smashed through then I'd agree.
