I did not agree or disagree. I was just saying that this isnt logical. Its impossible to know exactly who punched harder. I know im a Tysonfan, so i wont go into this since few respect Tysonfans (Not directed at you)

Larry Holmes fought both....and insisted that Shavers hit much harder.
....Tyson was more accurate.....that's what a guy who fought both of them had to say about it, for what that's worth.
Tyson is not even in the top ten for punching power in my opnion. He hit hard, but nothing exceptional. The things that were amazing about Tyson were his accuracy, handspeed, and the angles he attacked from.
Agree 100%, there are several fighters in history who in my opinion hit harder than Tyson but they are few who were as dangerous!
Interesting that Mercer would say that. Read the following article.
Former WBO heavyweight champion "Merciless" Ray Mercer (25-4-1, 17 KO's) wasted little time in destroying out-gunned and outclassed Leo "The Lion" Loiacono (14-3, 13 KO's) in two brief rounds.
The perennial heavyweight contender Mercer (238, 1998) kept his fading title hopes alive by dominating the muscular Loiacono (243, 1998) with superior punching power. Mercer, West Orange, NJ. sent Loiacono, Lodi, NJ. crashing to the canvas early in the second round from a brutal three-punch combination to the head. Mercer, 37, drilled Loiacono, 28, with a left hook to the jaw followed by a straight right and another solid hook. Loiacono hit the deck hard on his left side and was unable to beat referee Bill Connors ten-count. The official time of the brief encounter was :46 seconds of the second round.
The former 1988 USA Olympic gold medal winner Mercer, had hoped to get in more work but looked good in stopping his far less experienced opponent. Loiacono, whose biggest win had come with a first round knockout over Michael Benning, never really had the firepower to stay with the dangerous veteran Mercer.
I've never seen Loiacono myself but apparently he didn't impress the reporter who wrote this article. It's interesting sometimes the guys fighters will pick as their toughest opponents, hardest hitting opponents etc.
