  • Britain has not had a genuine world champ in decades

Britain often has World Champion Boxers, But they are really only paper champions. There has always been someone better who our fighter avoided.

Naseem Hamed -- Juan Manuel Marquez
    Barry McGuigan -- Azumah Nelson
    Carl Froch -- Andre Ward
Nigel Benn -- Roy Jones Jr.
    etc
    etc

Lewis ducked John Ruiz and Chris Byrd so he can't be considered a real champ.

yeah. He's the most recent. Also Lennox, Honeyghan and Minter depending on how far back you want to go.

David Haye at Cruiserweight around 2008 got a Ring belt but then moved up.

Thread fail.. Britain has had a lot of champions

If belts weren't held hostage, I would presume they would have some more.. Tough when champs defend once or twice a year
