Also do you think Roy is the fastest like I do? I think he is by a long shot.

I think he is the best combination of speed and power... There have been faster guys at the lower weights, but no one can match the speed, size and power of roy.. The dude was a 160-200 pound fighter but was as quick as a lightweight/welter... Scary combination

Can you name a single guy from the lower weights that punch faster than Roy Jones Jr?

Willie Pep was fairly quick.. granted the power isn't the same as Roy's.. he still fast hands although his impeccable defense really overshadows it.

Wow he is quick! Thanks Sly!

Would you say he is faster than Roy Jones Jr?

I'd say that Roy is the fastest combination puncher that I have ever seen, shortly followed by Meldrick Taylor and possibly Ray Leonard. Ray Robinson had blinding double and triple left hook combinations. Prime Ali, Mike Tyson and Floyd Patterson had dazzling combinations for heavyweights....speed that would almost certainly be considered fast for a lightweight.

It is sometimes hard to judge against lower weight fighters. Zab Judah and Amir Khan have sensational handspeed, but their accuracy and precision isn't always great.

What stands out about prime Roy Jones is the length and number of punches thrown in the combinations.....coupled with the speed. The Pazienza, Thornton and Brannon fights demonstrate some of the finest combinations I've ever witnessed.

Howard Davis was very quick with combination punching.
