  • Best middleweight?

Would Roy Jones Jr. been the best middleweight if he would have stayed in that divison?

  • #2
sugar Ray Robinson was the best of all time. Jones was a talent but would have stayed longer in the division if he could make weight.

Harry Greg deserves a mention as well.

Roy was scary as a middleweight and it would have been interesting to see what kind of legacy he could have built there.

Roy could have been in the discussion if he stayed at mw and landed bigger fights like McClellan

His resume is super thin at 160

                  Ray.
I disagree.. While Ray was no doubt the best welter, I can't say he was the best middleweight ever.. Very good, top 5 all time at the weight, but he did lose the belt 5 times, and too guys that would never beat hagler or monzon.. Prime hagler and monzon beat fullmer, Lamotta, basilio, etc.. I realize Ray was past his prime when he reigned at middleweight, I just can't put him at #1.. I think hagler, monzon, greb would get the better of Ray, and they are a level above the guys that Ray lost to..
P4p Ray is the greatest, but if singling out just middleweight division, then Ray is behind hagler, monzon, greb

I guess when I pick Robinson I pick him before his retirement and in peak fighting form. I think Jake gives any mw you mention an even chance to lose.
