  • Found these in our basement ...

So my dad and I have been cleaning some stuff out, and came across some of this stuff from his box office days. We decided to put the ticket up as a listing just to see if there was any interest in this kind of stuff, but thought I'd make a post here to try and find out more.

It's a 1964 Cassius Clay vs Liston ticket for a showing at the Fox Theater in Detroit in November.

    Ebay Item Number: 221435258013

But we've also found a bunch of old promo posters that he was supposed to hang out front of the box office but never did. They would show live CC TV events of major bouts, kind of like pay per view back in the day. Here's the posters he has ....

Any insight would be great. Thanks everyone.

          That Clay-Liston ticket.. I don't get it.

          November 16? Fox Theater?

Ali and Liston didn't fight in that stadium nor that date. Was the second fight delayed and moved to Maine?

It was. Ali suffered a hernia and the fight was rescheduled in Maine. Many feel that took a lot of steam out of Liston.

If they are tickets to a cancelled show it would make them more valuable.

When I first saw the ticket I was like "this is something they should bring to Pawn Stars."

I can't find any details on a quick search but Wikipedia says it was originally scheduled to be at the Boston Garden on November 16, 1964. I know its Wikipedia and all, but hey someone had to put it there too.

This ticket has the correct date except it was billed in Detroit, Michigan at the Fox Theater. The fact that this was even printed possibly shows this is the correct information, but I have no source to prove it.
