  • Trivia: Hopkins is the last; who was the 1st?

When Bernard Hopkins entered the ring last night against Shumenov, he became the last/latest fighter to be "inducted" into the "25 consecutive years club" (for boxers who have had at least 1 pro fight in each of 25 consecutive calendar years)

Who was the first member of this club?

NB: Though BoxRec lists fights for Peter Maher 25 years in a row, he is not the answer, as his fights in 1887 were all amateur bouts.

Kid Azteca fought in 33 consecutive years.

Yes... and no other boxer in history can match that!

He was not the first to reach 25 consecutive years, though.

        Could it be Jack Johnson?

          Bob Fitzsimmons?

Good guesses, guys... but though Fitz and Johnson had very long careers, they both skipped several years along the way (where they didn't have a single fight). So neither came close to 25 consecutive years.

Silvio Branco retired today, looking at his record he fought for 26 consecutive calendar years. Bundana do you know how many fighters in history have fought for at least 25 consecutive years? I ask because i'd like to know the answer, not because I know it.
