    Watched ali/norton iii,ali won

    Just watched Ali/Norton III again,been a long time.This was supposedly a
controversial fight, but Ali actually did win.First off,Ali was champ and Norton
didn't take the title like he is supposed too.Norton had his moments, but Ali
controlled him when he was throwing punches. When a 220 lb man throws
bombs,no-one is going to stop that, but Ali controlled him like a Matador and
landed precise, exact punches in return.Ali was operating like a surgeon.Ali
was so good during his career, that if he didn't pull a rabbit out of his hat
or do the impossible he was looked at as the loser;People expected too much,
but the truth is he won the fight.

I've scored this one a few times and always find Ali a close winner.

It falls into the category of fight where the victor accumulated more punishment than the loser. The rounds that Norton won clearly were far more dominant than the rounds that Ali shaded.

However; on a round by round basis, Ali probably shaded eight of the 15 rounds meaning that he was holding onto his title unless there was a knockdown.

Norton might even have landed more punches over the entire fight....heavier blows too which added to the audience perception. But Ali was still quite wily, he stole enough rounds to blag a decision win.

both duran and leonard copied or were wily enough to finish rounds strongly to impress the judges. I also think the power's that be helped Kenny get his wbc shot because of this fight.

And I'm glad it did. Kenny deserved to be a champion in the 70s. Three close fights with Ali, a close decision over Young and a disputed loss to Holmes cement his worth.

I must say I agree. It was close. But Ali was the clear winner. Then again, I've seen clearer fights go the other way, so you never know
