Element of surprise meaning that Nelson was a late replacement on short notice, and sanchez probably didnt take him to seriously,,, Nobody expected a young inexperienced guy like nelson to give hell to sanchez,,, Hence why i said it was a Element of Surprised,, Were you not surprised by his competitiveness, or did you know beforehand that azumah was that good,, No one knew who Nelson was,, I dont see how you can say he didnt have the Element of surprise, when nobody knew he was

Nelson wasn't ahead going into the 15th, Nelson did indeed improve but I think Sanchez would have always beaten him and that says a lot

excuses? Sanchez was far enough ahead that Nelson needed a KO in the 15th to win, but it was Sanchez who got the KO. It was a great fight

My guess would be Eusebio Pedroza. He had a good run as the WBA champion at the same time.

Ok, thanks,, that makes sense,, I didnt watch back then so hard for me to know who was hot and who was not.....

I dont think sanchez ducked him,,, just that he died before any big fights could get made,,

a pedroza-sanchez fight would have been a barn burner, and someone would have gotten stopped

I wouldn't accuse Sanchez of ducking. People often forget that fighters don't make fights, promoters and TV networks do. If the right offer came along the fight would have happened. The problem with unifying titles is that both parties are used to getting the bigger share of the purse. And there is no math to make that work.

Not many who were around would have picked Pedroza to win. So much so nobody ever claims Sanchez ducked him
