  • Will Mike Tyson join the Jordan Brand?

According to recent reports the former heavyweight champion of the world made a visit to Portland Oregon last week to meet with executives from the Jordan Brand.

Over the last several years the premier Jordan Brand has been working hard at gaining market share within the boxing apparel and gear industry signing boxers Roy Jones Jr. and Andre Ward to the list of high profile athletes under the Jordan brand.

A talk of the former heavyweight champion of the world joining the Jordan brand has certainly caught attention from the sport of boxing with positive feedback. I mean when you think of boxing is there a bigger name than Mike Tyson? Adding a high profile boxing legend like Mike Tyson to mix could be exactly what the Jordan Brand needs to gain market share and attention as a leader in the sport of boxing.

While there is no doubt that Tyson has led a life of controversy outside, and even inside the ring, the former heavyweight champion has addressed his life struggles with drugs and alcohol and is now living a clean and sober life with his wife Kiki and two children in Las Vegas. Tyson stars in his “one man show” The Undisputed Truth which has had amazing success featuring him alone on stage telling the struggles and triumphs of his life. The show is reportedly getting ready for an international tour starting in late 2013 and early 2014. He also has a show airing on Fox Sports 1 titled: Being Mike Tyson which has captured a large following.

The success in the documentation of his life speaks to the amazing following the former heavyweight champ still carries, even beyond the sport of boxing. While details on the deal are still unclear, one thing is for sure, Mike Tyson would be an invaluable asset to the Jordan Brand and a strategic partnership for both.

Fanscreens an online marketing agency based out of Florida is said to be spearheading the deal between the two parties.

Mike Tyson and Jordan Brand meet

Over the last several days reports of former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson and Jordan Brand executives meeting have surfaced. The exact details of this meeting have not been published but inside reports have hinted that the two are in talks of a potential deal for Mike Tyson to promote the Jordan Brand merchandise.

The deal has been in development for several months and has been led by a Marketing Agency based out of Miami, FL. Jordan Brand has shown interest in breaking into the sport of boxing over the last several years signing Roy Jones Jr. and Andre Ward. The Jordan Brand is a premier brand with ties to many athletes across various sports including MLB, NFL, NBA, Nascar and others.

The potential deal with Tyson only solidifies the Jordan Brand’s effort to achieve greater market share in the sport of boxing and begin pushing its boxing merchandise. A similar deal was in negotiations earlier this year with Manny Pacquiao but still has not reached any terms according to inside sources from either parties.

Mike Tyson is unquestionably one of the greatest heavyweight boxers of all times, and his influence in the world of boxing is immeasurable. This could be exactly what the Jordan brand needs to be identified as a premier brand in the sport of boxing.

Mike Tyson to become a Jordan Brand Ambassador

According to recent reports from local Portland Media, Mike Tyson met with executives of the Jordan Brand at the Nike World Headquarters in Portland Oregon last week. The Jordan Brand has been paving its way into the world of boxing signing boxers Roy Jones Jr. And Andre Ward in recent years, so it would be no surprise to hear of such a deal developing between the two.

Could this make Mike Tyson a Jordan Brand Ambassador? I think it may be too early to tell, however there is no denying the incredible accomplishments Tyson achieved during his boxing career. Mike Tyson still holds the record as the youngest boxer to win the WBC, WBA and IBF heavyweight titles at 20 years old, and the first heavyweight boxer to simultaneously hold the WBA, WBC and IBF titles.

Mike Tyson has worked hard to change his image outside of the ring. Tyson, now married to Kiki Tyson(Lakiha ****er) lives in Las Vegas with their two children Milan and Morocco. Tyson has established a charity foundation- Mike Tyson Cares, with the mission to “give kids a fighting chance.”

Tyson has also launched a broadway style show called Mike Tyson: The Undisputed Truth directed by ****e Lee and is the star of his own show on Fox Sports 1- Being Mike Tyson. His efforts to live a clean and sober life are evident which could make him a perfect fit for such a role while helping up and coming boxers.

The deal between Tyson and the Jordan Brand was developed over the last several months by Matt Jones a representative of FS Online Marketing, a marketing agency based out of Miami Florida.

Mike Tyson Teaming up with Nike and Jordan Brand

On October 17th, 2013 Mike Tyson was in Portland Oregon apparently visiting the Nike World Headquarters meeting with Jordan Brand President Larry Miller as well as other top executives. Exact details on this meeting aren’t clear, however its no secret that the Jordan Brand has signed other boxers including Roy Jones Jr. and Andre Ward.

The potential deal between Mike Tyson and the Jordan brand would make sense as Mike Tyson could be compared to Michael Jordan in the sport of Boxing. Former Heavyweight Champion Mike Tyson still holds the records as the youngest boxer to win the WBC, WBA, and IBF heavyweight titles and is considered one of the best heavyweight fighters of all times. Securing a deal with Tyson could be a huge score for the Jordan Brand amongst the sport of boxing.

Retiring in 2006 Mike Tyson has been out of the sport of boxing for a while, at least as a fighter, but still remains an avid fan of the sport and icon. He also recently stepped into the promotional end of the sport under Iron Mike Productions. As an undisputed boxing legend and former heavyweight champion, in addition to his current ties to the sport with Iron Mike Productions, we view the potential of the former champ and the Jordan Brand teaming up as a win for everybody including the sport of boxing.

While still unconfirmed, the reports are certainly creating excitement in the world of boxing. The deal between the two has been in developments for months and is reportedly being developed by Matt Jones a representative of Fanscreens, a Marketing Agency based out of Miami, FL.

Will Mike Tyson be a brand ambassador for Jordan, Nike?

Former undisputed heavyweight champion of the world “Iron Mike” Tyson reportedly is in negotiations to become the newest brand ambassador for Nike’s Jordan Jumpman merchandise. The "Jumpman" logo is owned by Nike to promote its Michael Jordan related products, including the famous and successful Air Jordan brand of basketball shoes.

If terms of these negotiations are met, the potential marketing and bottom-line success from this merge of two legends will be highly impactful.
Mike Tyson was one of the most celebrated athletes of all time. Throughout the ’80s and ’90s, there wasn’t a professional boxer in the world who held a candle to his sharp precision. His trademark right hook, uppercut combo knocked out the biggest names in the sport, earning him the nickname “Iron Mike.” With the distinction of being the youngest heavyweight-boxing champion in history, he pulled in a $300 million fortune.

Tyson’s current introspective reality program, Being: Mike Tyson, currently airing on Tuesdays on Fox Sports showcases Tyson “unlike any portrait that has ever before been captured, Being Mike Tyson is not a look back, but instead, a look inward.”

Can America’s undisputed Champion of Boxing become the brand ambassador for the undisputed Champion of Jordan Jumpman footwear?

The connection with the Jordan Brand and Mike Tyson came from Matt Jones representative from FanScreens.net.
