According to recent reports the former heavyweight champion of the world made a visit to Portland Oregon last week to meet with executives from the Jordan Brand.
Over the last several years the premier Jordan Brand has been working hard at gaining market share within the boxing apparel and gear industry signing boxers Roy Jones Jr. and Andre Ward to the list of high profile athletes under the Jordan brand.
A talk of the former heavyweight champion of the world joining the Jordan brand has certainly caught attention from the sport of boxing with positive feedback. I mean when you think of boxing is there a bigger name than Mike Tyson? Adding a high profile boxing legend like Mike Tyson to mix could be exactly what the Jordan Brand needs to gain market share and attention as a leader in the sport of boxing.
While there is no doubt that Tyson has led a life of controversy outside, and even inside the ring, the former heavyweight champion has addressed his life struggles with drugs and alcohol and is now living a clean and sober life with his wife Kiki and two children in Las Vegas. Tyson stars in his “one man show” The Undisputed Truth which has had amazing success featuring him alone on stage telling the struggles and triumphs of his life. The show is reportedly getting ready for an international tour starting in late 2013 and early 2014. He also has a show airing on Fox Sports 1 titled: Being Mike Tyson which has captured a large following.
The success in the documentation of his life speaks to the amazing following the former heavyweight champ still carries, even beyond the sport of boxing. While details on the deal are still unclear, one thing is for sure, Mike Tyson would be an invaluable asset to the Jordan Brand and a strategic partnership for both.
Fanscreens an online marketing agency based out of Florida is said to be spearheading the deal between the two parties.
