at what weight, and time period??????

I favor SRR over anyone, but if its the tale end of his career and up in weight, then patterson has a legit chance of winning,,

        Lets be realistic!

Robinson was retired between 1952 and 1955; whereas Floyd turned pro in 1952 and was approaching world class at heavyweight when Robinson was making his comeback at middleweight losing with ring rust against the likes of Tiger Jones.

The following year (1956) Patterson completely dominated Archie Moore at heavyweight just as Robinson was finding his form at middleweight against the likes of Bobo Olson.

It would be foolish to suggest that the mid 50s version of Robinson could jump two weight divisions and beat prime Patterson at heavyweight. I'd doubt 'that' Robinson would beat a Patterson boiled down to light heavyweight either.

Different weights, different primes, different eras. I've never before heard that a fight was ever suggested. It would have been a ridiculous match up.

I believe there were talks(suggestions) that Robinson challenged Archie Moore. I haven't heard too much about a possible Patterson match.

            Short Answer:

The suggestion is absurd. (For long answer, see post #4)

Prime for prime it's not unrealistic at all that Robinson could beat Patterson.

Watching the context in which the suggestion was made (0.56 into the video), doesn't make it any less absurd. However, I was amused by D'Amato's reply: "If Ray Robinson is considering committing suicide, I don't want him to use Floyd Patterson as a vehicle."
