I have to find a way of watching this, the "no mas" fight was one of the biggest boxing events of my life time. The fact that Duran quit, left me in shock for what seemed like days. Duran was an idol of mine and I felt utterly betrayed, I'm not sure how long it took me to finally forgive. I was actually rooting for Hagler when I went to Vegas to watch the two men fight and I never particularly liked Marvin.

It was probably some time in the mid-90s when I met up with Duran, back in Vegas, he was still fighting at the time if I remember correctly. I was with The Sun at the time and I was doing a piece on Vegas and why it was considered the new home of boxing, so I jetted off for some "research".

I can't remember why Duran was there, but he was in town, everyone knew it so I finally got a chance to meet him, we had a great time, it's probably when I first forgave him for his sin and I remember what he said when I asked him about the fight...it was heavily accented English with tonnes of profanities but I got the jist of it, "**** that fight, Leonard was a ******". He carried on saying something in his native tongue which I never got, but it was bloody hilarious.

i missed it the first time on reg espn cause i don't regularly watch that horrible channel aside from a few 30 for 30. they're giving it on espn classic but i don't have that so.... it's probably in the vid trading section.

Duran made a very good comeback won a title gave haggler a rough time but I really forgave him for no mas when he went out on his shield against hearns then to come back with the performance against barkly erased no mas from my mind entirely .

Yes, Duran's performances that followed helped many forgive No Mas but a night like that can never be truly erased. It is detrimental to the great man's legacy, mostly because he used to take so much pride in his own machismo.

Leonard isn't responsible for how Duran prepares himself. Duran knew that a rematch was going to happen and had as much time to prepare for the second night as he had or the first.

you are correct. The prefight tactic's are part of the game. Duran's camp did an excellent job in the first fight. Enjoyed the documentary thanks Battlin for the link. There were some inaccurate statements though but not that excessive.

Not sure if I'll watch this, getting tired of them going over the same ground over and over again, always the new Ali Docu, another Leonard one, there has got to be a lot more boxing stories worth doing documentaries on than all the hagiographic ones they consistently churn out.

I knew that Leonard was unnerved by Duran going into the first fight, but I never realized the extent to which he was outright petrified. That was illuminating to say the least. Overall, I thought it was well done. The last bit was a little iffy, but not awful.
