Why did this matchup not happen. I know they were friends or was it Rocky's camp wanted nothing to do with Jake?

Rocky was a heavyweight and Jake in his prime was a middleweight, the two never moved up or down excepting Lamotta to Lightheavy at the end. Unlike today, i'd doubt the idea ever crossed their minds. it'd be like what if Robinson fought Louis, just wouldn't come up.

If I am not mistaken they were scheduled to fight in 1950, I do believe Graziano was injured with a broken hand and thus the fight never happened.
This is supposedly a picture from the press conference where they were signing the contracts.

Although not a tall man Jake was a big middleweight, Rocky was small structurally in comparison. Young fans today really have no idea what LaMotta was all about, he was feared by most and they had good reasons!!!
Rocky was a very tuff guy but he would be 155lbs at his best and Jake could hit the ring at 172lbs. LaMotta was to strong for Rocky and the match was avoided because of that and them being good friends! Ray
