Liston was definitely the favorite against Patterson.

I'd read at the time that the odds for Holyfield vs Tyson 1 were as high as 30:1.

That was a huge upset at the time..........nobody backed Holyfield except Ron Borges.

To be honest there have always been huge heavyweight shocks:

          Corbett vs Sullivan

          Fitz vs Corbett

          Willard vs Johnson

          Tunney vs Dempsey

          Johannson vs Patterson

          Foreman vs Frazier

          Foreman vs Moorer

          McCall vs Lewis

          Rahman vs Lewis

Spinks-Ali and Spinks-Holmes are up there.

              Smith-Witherspoon II, Berbick-Thomas and Schmeling-Louis I

Tyson Douglas definitely leads the list.

                Neither of these were upsets.

Particularly Liston-Patterson. Patterson had ducked Liston for years, fearing the outcome which is why Liston was already considered the real champion, or the best heavyweight when they met.

Ali-Spinks I is a good mention as well. Most others has been mentioned.

All of Wlad's losses, all of Lewis' losses. Heck, Tyson was a heavy fav going into the Holyfield fight as well.

Nobody expected Holmes to do a number on Ray Mercer!

Not too many people I know had Trevor Berbick beating Greg Page, or Coetzee beating Dokes. Of course, Foreman-Ali is up there.
