  • deontay wilders power?

this guys last fight he had the guy spasiming on the floor. 29w 29ko, I know its hard to compare due to his opposition but where would you rank his power against big punchers in history.

Just too early to "rank" him. Let's see how the results are affected by higher-level opponents. Obviously if they continue to go down like bowling pins, then we can have this conversation.

I like him, though, don't get me wrong.

    BOMB SQUAD!!

ike Tyson fought his first 18 or 20 bouts against a variety of levels. At first guys who can't punch and who can't take a punch! Then guys who can take a little better punch, and so on and so on.......the common denominator is they don't take a good punch well!
Wilder was brought up the same as any other prospect, pilling up KO wins against trial horses that their supposed to knock out! These are the lessons they musty learn first, the guy in front of you is not going to be able to take your punch so throw it!! Believe it or not it is a test!!! Some guys will go out and look to box to dset it up instead of being agressive and get the job done.
I'm NOT talking about guys who will lay down, they will try because they are trial guys!

Bottom line his KO record looks good on paper, can he bring power? He looks like he can but lets wait for better comp and ofcourse how he handles getting wacked!
I think he looks OK, very stiff and awkward but the heavies today all look like that. No one has a flow to them they all look tense and "concerned"!

your answer is in your second sentence. just way too early to get a gauge on just how hard he hits becuz his opponents have been walking corpses. its still obvious he has at least good power by the way he moves his opponents but just how hard he hits is still unknown. sam peter seemed to have awesome power but once he stepped in with guys with a pulse alot of his power seemed to disappear. time will tell

This could have easily been a NSB thread.

But, to answer the question, any comparisons to historical fighters cannot be made at this time because Wilder has not fought the kind of competition to make these comparisons yet. Ask again in ten years.

True, but have you noticed how much more mature and civil the posters and discussions in BH tend to be? It's like leaving a chaotic cafeteria and walking into a quiet master suite with room service bringing you wine & cheese.

That's true. Pulev looked stiff and limited last weekend. Pretty much threw nothing but 1-2's to the head all fight long. But in today's heavyweight division that plus a little size and toughness is enough to go far.

Hahaha, that my friend is a great analogy.

Little early to ask that question.

I'm currently catching up watching him fight. I have had nothing but good press to read until recently. So far, from the level of the competition, he seems to be doing what he should. Looks a little wild, a little sloppy on the defense; but I like the WEIGHT. He's not fat. He's trim and when he uses it, seems to have a decent enough jab.

I'm about to watch his last fight with Liakhovih. I imagine that'll tell me more than the Audley Harrison blow out.

Good to see an American getting noticed again; but don't rush him in against the Klitshckos just yet. He ain't ready from what I've seen; and the last thing we yanks need is another kid getting a big fight before he's ready for it and developing some psychological complex that haunts him the rest of his career. Let him develop.....they do need to move him up a notch, though.
