Roy jones wins at any point past super middle weight vs hearns
I don't think jones woulda done great been a champ sure but he would have started taking L's LHW was too big for him in general he was just so much faster but he was slowing by the time of the Ruiz fight so my guess is it wouldn't have went well.

What if instead of Ruiz, he fought Toney? or instead of Tarver, fight for Toney's IBF CW title.

Would have loved to see roy vs jirov or toney at cruiser,,

no doubt he would have won a belt there...

I do thing that jirov may have gotten up in his arse and been the first to beat roy,,,, maybe roy beats him,, but a jirov from 2000-03 was no joke,,,, he could eat all your shots and still come forward with the body shots,,,
Roy against the ropes isnt as good as toney against the ropes,,, would have been an interesting scene to have roy against the ropes vs jirov,,,,

What time in the cruisers history? If you means the cruisers of the late 90s all the way to 2005 or so, I think Roy gets beat by guys like Toney or Jirov. RJJ doesn't hit hard enough and can't take those shots.
When RJJ went up to HW and lost weight for 175, he lost a lot of what he had and was an almost shot fighter, going down to cw would have been easier but not sure if he would have been strong enough for the division.

Even a 34 year old Jones (pre-Ruiz...and his debilitating, career changing weight loss) would have wiped up the Cruiserweight division anytime between 1979 when that awesome weight class began with it's first title fight ending in a draw until the present day. None of those fighters ever had the speed or the skill to compete with Jones.

There are only a handful of participants that would not fall to the ever-fast one: Evander Holyfield, James Toney, Visili Jirov, and Orlin Norris.

Yes, Orlin Norris.... ....well, I'd like to believe that anyway. Always liked Orlin.....but, probably not.

Young Holyfield as Cruiserweight champion creams an old RJ. Toney, I think at Cruiserweight would be more competitive and actually do what he should have done the first time......maybe even win. Jirov; got to love a pressure fighter, which would be hell on an old Jones. And Orlin....well, he'd try. He probably wouldn't have the speed to do to Jones what he did unnoticed to heavyweights before he dropped to the division.....but he'd try......and more than likely fail. BUT....maybe not. Had a great left hook, Orlin. (sighs).

Anyway, seriously. A 34 year old Jones was still faster than the majority of cruiserweights that ever fought. He'd a smoked De Leon for sure, Daniels, Czyz, fat Qawi, etc. The only real competitive fights I see are the ones I mentioned.

But, to be completely honest, I've never warmed up to the division 'cause it's insulting to small heavyweights. 'Course, I'm old school. I wasn't really all that crazy 'bout the super middleweight division; but it's grown on me.

When he beat Ruiz he was a solid cruiserweight. He would have went a lot farther if he stayed at 199 rather than dropping twenty pounds of muscle and fighting Tarver. That was foolish.
