  • Sandy Saddler vs Vicente Saldivar

15 rounds of featherweight action. Who would you pick?
The rough, tough, offensive demon with nuclear power in both hands, Sandy Saddler, or "The Golden Southpaw", Vicente Saldivar?

I'd pick Saddler to stop Saldivar in the mid-late rounds. Saddler would be a big featherweight now so he must have seemed enormous back then. Saddler size and power make the difference here and I think he gets the win.

A southpaw only really causes problems when fought from the outside. Saddler was an expert in closing the gap. Look what he did to one of the slickest feathers in history, Willie Pep. Now, granted, the Pep that fought Saddler was not the same fighter as he was before the plane crash; but he still had enough to be better than most. Saddler, on the other hand, had his number. How do you outbox a master boxer....you don't. You get in his chest and mug the hell outta him. Saddler did.....and I feel he'd do the same to Saldivar.

      Saddler by later round TKO.

I'll agree that Saddler would get the win, but I'm not seeing a stoppage here.

Too hard too predict really but I'd go with a Saldivar decision, although it's hard too say there that I can't see a stoppage in any Saddler fight, these are 2 tremendous and true 15 round boxers who both only got stronger as the fight goes on and both had titanium chins, but, I feel Saddler is out matched at mid range, can't see him out boxing Saldivar and the work from both on the inside would really be something beautiful but on that I guess it also depends on whose era they fought in, Saddler wouldn't get away with half the **** he did if he fought in the 60s.

Same here, I don't see a stoppage but Saddler may just take the win. Like someone already said, he has to close the gap, get in Saldivar's chest and just unload, Saddler knew how to do that and did it against one of the best to ever lace em up.
