  • James quick Tillis vs Mike Tyson

Was Tyson having an off day or was rooney trying to make him box too much because some actually had tillis winning this fight. Was he just lacking experience, would a 21 year old Tyson knock his head off. If not I cant see Tyson having a hope in hell even landing on Muhamad Ali

That was one of James Quick Tillis's best performances; at times he boxed quite beautifully. But I still had it a very clear win for Mike....plus a terrific knockdown enroute (from memory!).

If they'd have boxed later that year Tillis might not have seen round three. Everyone is entitled to a day when they're not on perfect form and even prime Tyson was no exception. Around that time of course Ribalta took Tyson into the 10th round and Mitch Green took him the distance. Tyson was still learning.....

But even 1986 Tyson was too good for Trevor Berbick.

Basically a dangerous but still raw Tyson who hadn't peaked yet came up against a decent fighter who fought a helluva fight, maybe his best, and Tyson still won Clearly. The KD was actually sublime, the slip and pivot and then that quick sharp hook. Did Tyson good a test like that.
