A win over an ancient Olivares and questionable decisions vs Lockridge 2x, LaPorte and an absolute robbery draw vs Bernard Taylor won't make you a better fighter than Lopez. H2H give me Lopez all day. That's not a slight on Pedroza, he was a quality fighter but as someone else posted, Gomez was better at everything!

Only at 122, 126 and 130 Bazooka Gomez was vulnerable.Pedroza would kill him over the 15 round distance, not to slight Wilfredo, I just think Eusebio would be too much for him.

Have you actually watched these two fight or are you looking at boxing rec? I'm telling you Gomez has far and away more advantages. Gomez had advantages in both speed and power, was a better boxer and has the better resume. Pedroza was a quality fighter. He was tall and ackward, but at this level that's not enough. Gomez KOes him in 9 one sided rounds. No one, and I mean no one, who watched both of these guys in their primes would pick Pedroza to win. No one!

IIRC, I don't seem to remember Wilfredo calling out to fight Eusebio, that kind of speaks volumes.

How could you remember, you weren't even born yet. I don't remember Pedroza clling out Gomez. Trust me, every hardcore boxing fan from back then would pick Gomez. Easy

Gomez was the bigger name/draw between the two. And if Pedroza defends his title against him he's going to want to be paid. It's very difficult to make a fight when both fighters want to be paid more than the other one. You can split a purse 60/40, but not 60/60.

thanx bob n i will offer this little info, for whoever was wondering how pedroza got a draw with the superslick bernard taylor, he got that draw bcuz back in the day they didnt just give points for running around the ring. bernard was one of my favorites but he didnt score enough to win that fight so he got a draw and pedroza did earn that draw. pedroza was a big strong feather with skills. gomez was a master jr feather of course with skills but he won the big fights by outgutting and wearing down badasses like zarate. that would not work against pedroza. gomez would eventually find himself outgunned and then realize that his body was being chopped away. pedroza beats gomez by late rounds stoppage n gomez will see what zarate felt like. n thanks again bob
