  • would wilfredo gomez legacy have been better if he was in a traditional weight class

he spent most of his time at super bantam. your thoughts

I dont think it hurts his legacy at all,, He was a great fighter,,,

Maybe if he won a title fight in the higher weight classes, instead of being beaten when he moved up,,

but some guys arent designed for the classic divisions

look at hatton,,, couldnt make lightweight,,, and way to small for welter,, jr welter he was great at

No. I actually think that Gomez put that division on the map and gave it credibility.

He was a great at the weight. Taking on quote, "traditional champions" like Zarate and Pintor were great wins at super bantamweight.

No, Wilfredo was made for the weight, and he enhanced his legacy.I could see him beating Zamora, and Solis at Bantamweight, however Chandler would be a problem. Also, couldn't see him beating Pedroza at featherweight.

Gomez could've beaten Pedroza at 126. He literally did everything better

Not sure, he couldn't handle Sanchez, and Nelson beat him.Possibly, McGuigan beats him too, but Eusebio would be hell for him to handle, can't see him overcoming that challenge.

Strongly disagree. While he couldn't beat Nelson or Sanchez, and I don't think he would have beat Little Red either. I think he would have easily beaten Pedroza and absolutely murdered McGuigan.

imo his legacy woulda best been served if he woulda stayed at 122. he was widely regarded as the capo de capo, nkosi ama nkosi of all time at 122. the only marks on him were from moving up. he got hammered by sanchez n nelson n got a giftwrapped fix v lockridge at 130. think about this, the onliest reason u giv anyone a shot against him at 122 is because of the memories of his attempts above 122

There was a reason Eusebio held on to that title for seven years, he wasn't a chump, and he could do just as foul as Wilfredo.I think Gomez knew that, and wisely avoided him.He was a better fighter than Danny Lopez, that's for sure.
