Before the mercer fight, his opponents were very hesitant to unload on him coz of his power and speed of his counter punches. After the mercer fight when guys new he dint have a solid chin, guys like Williams and purity just through flurrys at him when he got close, without any real leverage and he was hurt and knocked down. When it comes to heavys hes probably got an average chin but when your talking top heavyweights, you have to admit he had a weak chin and his opponents took advantage of that knowledge

Honestly I should know better by now to chime in on a thread by kids who have zero practical experience in the sport!

weak chins don't have 52 fights and 3 stoppages!! Learn the correct verbage and appropriate sayings!!! You can't take a
saying" and apply to where you want it!!! Guys with "weak chins" and have 52 pro fights are stopped far more than 3 times!! Weak chins show up more often....Get it!!! Learn the correct meanings of boxing verbage!
A weak chin is going to be stopped 7 to 10 times in 52 bouts!!
Any good heavy could hurt a great heavy when they're punch lands!!! Learn!

Wherever you want your goal posts for it, and you can move em anywhere, that's your business. For me it doesn't fit. I'm satisfied with saying his chin just wasn't that bad. I've laced em up with chinny guys and I don't think they would ever go through some of the fights Morrison did. If you want to take it to only guys who stand up to "elite prime punchers" and you're happy with that then go for it.

I didn't really mean only guys who stood up to elite fighters with power, but I'm saying that the fact that he had to retire so young he avoided a longer career with many more knockout losses because the consensus here seems to be that his chin wasn't weak because he was only stopped 3 times(again not taking into account the amount of times he hit the canvas).

LOL easy there old timer. I think your argument reeks, sir.

Ricardo Mayorga has been knocked out about 5 times in his career, that's more than Morrison. Does he have a weaker chin p4p than Duke? See that logic doesn't hold up. Morrison only got stopped 3 times because he was a warrior, but his chin was weak because he went down many times and was often hurt. Again, we have to set a standard. Morrison, Botha, Maskaev= Weak chins. Foreman, Tyson, Ali= Great chins.

Contrary to what a stubborn elder statesman of these forums says, you do not have to have actually trained or competed at any level to be able to tell if someone's chin is good or bad. Methinks this is simply an opportunity for said member to somewhat brag about his past (yet again).

No offence intended by that, I just think that the post I'm referencing is a moot point. Just because you haven't laced 'em up doesn't mean you can't still have your opinion.

His chin was a flaw. His stamina too for that matter but his chin let him down. Sure it's the heavys but if u say Morrison had a good chin then who do u say had a bad chin at that level?

I think the reason ray thinks his chin isn't weak is because the guys he trained wernt exactly a good comparison, thus the old angry little man syndrome. Sorry to be harsh uncle ray ray but its about time you shut the **** up and understand that people have eyes and its not rocket science to access these things.

he did do good and fought like mike wide punches and in and out but crazy dummies say George had he been young would had won

how when young George had no defense and was known to be hurt by hard shots by Ron who had him ready to fall in the 1st round close to end all over the place and was hurt every round after

tom would destroy George had he been young that's a fact
