I love those gritty, underworld kind of autobiographies! I read one about 10 years ago, about a fella from England who used to fight bareknuckle all around the country before heading over to America and fighting for big money over there and getting involved with some pretty serious organised criminals. Can't remember the name of the book though.
Was it 'The Gov'nor' the Lenny McLean Bio?... I think that pretty much sounds like his story. Don't think he was in the US long though he reputedly took on US mafia backed John McCormack and won within 3 minutes.

EDIT: Damn man. apologies, I didn't realise how old that post was. Apologies if it ain't relevent any more.

Lol no worries. And it wasn't that book, although I've read it. It was about some fella from somewhere random like some market town, bit of a ***** and he started out bare-knuckle in fields etc, got pretty good at it and ended up mixing in the underworld. Worked as a bouncer and a heavy for some pretty high-profile gangsters on both sides of the pond. He wasn't a well known name but the stories were believable. I love books like that. Most of the "main******" hardmen just regurgitate the same things.
