    Questions on Hearns and Mugabi

Why did John Mugabi campaign at 154lbs after losing to Hagler, in his fight with Duane Thomas for the vacant WBC title in late 1986, Hearns was seen congratulating his stablemate Thomas after the fight.

Does Hearns don't want to defend his 154lbs belt against Mugabi thats why he relinquished it, i've read the hitman was really avoiding WBA counterpart Mike McCallum.

When Hearns won his fourth world title against Roldan, he beat a common opponent of Hagler at middleweight, Im sure by 1988, Mugabi is back on top of the rankings, the beast in fact won the 154lbs title from the conqueror of Donald Curry in '89, yet he remained at the Junior Middleweight.

Hearns defend the middleweight title against Iran Barkley, but isn't it a Hearns vs Mugabi fight, far more exciting for boxing fans.

People always say things like that. Hearns didn't duck McCallum and Mugabi.

Both Hearns Mugabi, and Hearns McCallum would have been excellent matches as would McCallum Mugabi , so if anyone was ducking anyone, it was McCallum and Mugabi. Hearns imo was better than both at 154, beating both Duran and Benitez. McCallum's best wins were Curry and McCrory, and Mugabi's was Rene Jacquot.
Not sure why McCallum Mugabi never happened though, because Beast was a top contender for Mike's WBA strap, but instead took a few fights at 160 which got him a shot at Hagler.. Doubt he'd have stood a much better chance against the bodysnatcher, who's punch resistance was almost on a par with Hagler , and most of John's success's were against less than durable opposition..
