RECORD SAYS: His losses include a couple of losses at the Florida Junior Olympics (probably what prompted Tarver to say that Jones was never even the best boxer in the state of Florida), being stopped in one round at the 1985 US Junior Championships at 132, losing fair and square 1-4 to Russian Igor Ruzhnikov at the 1986 Goodwill Games in Moscow at 139, being stopped by Irishman John Reid at an Ireland-vs-USA dual in 1986 in his first-ever fight at 156
ICE SAYS: I have never heard of any of these.... but Tarver doesnt know what he is talking about... RJ won the National JO's in 1984 and cetainly had to win Florida to get there..... Roy could NOT have fought in the 1985 U.S. Juniors because he was too young to do so and, anyway, I have the full results from that tournament and he isnt in them. 1986 Goodwill games loss is possible but the fight with John Reid is HIGHLY unlikely. Never heard of RJ fighting at 156 until 1987.Comment
