Good read. Enjoyed the ending. Were sugar ray is in a coffee shop after his and Duran's career is over and sugar invites Duran to sit down and asks him.
"I need to ask you something. We are older, We've got kids and grandchildren, so you can tell me now. Did you really hate me as much as you seemed to hate me back then?
Duran replies "Ray, Ray, no , no, no!" looking offended. " I was only acting"

"Acting" Leonard laughed. "Well, you must have been a damned good actor, then, because you sure convinced me!'

always seemed to me that duran was not acting but was like that when he was starving n suffering to make weight. he always seems cool when he's heavy n not training down for a fight u know? but who can really say?

from what I have read duran resented leonard's fame and the fact that he would be getting the bulk of the purse but he did act even ornery than usual to get under Ray's skin and rattle him.
