Theres always been a fewer "talented" big men in the sport at one time than the other classes! That dictates the activity more than any other. Everyone has read about Joe Louis and the "bum of the month club", well Joe needed to earn and fighters fight so after clearing out 1 thru 10 plus the top tier who didn't want to try him Joe took on the favorites from the popular venues plus the colorfull men like Tony Gallento (who by the way came to fight ALL the time) around the country! Louis didn't fight lesser talents because he wanted to he just needed to earn!
Traditional the big guys can get into the mid 30s easily and still have maintained a high level just as traditionally the featherweights and below burn out after the age of 32 even less back in the days when fighters were really "full time" competitors! Ray -
I thought it involved head trauma just based off harder hits. Welterweights and Middleweights always seemed to end up better in the end than heavyweights do on average.Comment
