Ray it has been noted now that Robinson did lose at amateur level.

      • not even close

so many from his own era would have defeated him, hence floyd avoiding them

at 147, margarito, pac and williams had his number for certain, a prime mosley (despite being roided as we know) would have defeated floyd for sure

        prime oscar too

        • Sugarman numbers;
amateur 85--0 with 69 ko wins!
in 1951 his pro record reads, 128W--1L--2D
          from 1943 thru 1951 he was 91-0

please don't compare any fighter to those numbers he is the Greatest Boxer Ever and the Best Welter & Middle Weight of all time.

Again the numbers do mean something but skills and heart mean more. You can see that some of the undefeated marks are practically fabricated and mean little when comparing high caliber competition over a 20 year career.

          Ray.

          • Hold fast.........

Hold fast man. Sugar Ray Leonard is the greatest fighter of all-times!!!!!!!!!! Robinson was ahead of his time but also a product of his era. His record is deceiving in terms of level of opposition faced. Do you think he would be fighting every other week in Leonard's era? Because I do not. Furthermore, you often hear experts call him the greatest middleweight ever, when I believe that Marvin Hagler is the greatest middleweight ever. Both Leonard and Hagler beat Robinson and would have taken advantage of his many flaws.

            • Leonard fought about 40 times, Robinson fought the top contenders in 2 1/2 decades. (200 pro fights) stopped ONCE by attrition. Winning against the light heavy champ and it wasn't DonnyLaLonde) hahaha
The correct question would be could Leonard fight every other week in Robinsons time? With those brittle little hands it would be doubtful.
Robinson is bigger, stronger, has a knock out two handed attack and going 15 rounds was never a problem. He is rated over Leonard in both divisions is the model for an ATG and p4p King! Robinson invented those achievements.

Leonard isn't even rated by those in the business as the second greatest fighter!

              Ray.

many flaws? really how many were there?......

I'll concede that Floyd has picked his fights very carefully, but saying that all of those guys would have beaten him "for sure" is idiotic. Maybe one of them would have beaten him. Two of them winning is highly unlikely.

                • I do not think Floyd rates the second best to robinson. He is not as good as leonard and I can think of 15 to 20 fighters that might be better than Ray leonard.

No I don't, because with the money he would be making there would be no reason to. Sorry, but Leonard's career doesn't match up to Robinson's. When he fought for the lightheavyweight title he didn't make the champion weigh in at 167.
