As for Ron Lyle, here's a reminder:

Absolutely! How did I forget Cleveland Williams?!

If a post prime Tyson can be listed for Lewis, why not Williams for Ali? If Ali stayed still that night I dont doubt that Williams would probably have still carried quite a punch. Ali's tactics were perfect.....

Notable fighters include Vitali Klitschko, Mike Tyson, Razor Ruddock, David Tua, Oliver McCall, Hasim Rahman, Tommy Morrison, Ray Mercer and Shannon Briggs. Lesser but other hard hitting heavyweights Tucker, Bruno, Golota and Holyfield. I haven't done the research on other fighter and am not claiming Lewis to have fought the best punchers overall...but by god thats a pretty impressive list of knock out artists!!
No.Lewis is #1 there and a true ATG. I wish that a Lewis-Bowe fight and a Lewis-Foreman fight happened. I have Lewis as 3rd best HW ever.

Ali fought some good punchers (Shavers,Norton, Foreman, Liston and Frazier)but mostly club guys and blown-up cruisers after that.

Vlad has a decent record vs punchers now (Wach,Haye, Peter, Sanders, Rahman,Thompson,Brock,Mercer, and Brewster) and that could grow with this young very good crop of HW.

Based on a simple philosophy, Ali deployed one of the oldest tactics in the book - "The best defense is a good offense." In other words, beat the other guy to the punch, don't allow him to get off...

I've never seen him more elusive and mobile than in that fight though either.....

Ken Norton deserves a mention. So does Jimmy Young.
