  • RIP Tony Martin

PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- Retired boxer Tony Martin was fatally shot in an altercation with a visitor at one of his rental properties and police are searching for a suspect, authorities said Monday.

The 52-year-old Martin, a former welterweight, was shot during an argument at the home in the city's Hunting Park section on Friday
I don't know if alot of people here remember Tony Martin but he was a regular on tv and scored wins over the likes of Micky Ward and Livingstone Bramble and went the distance in losing a tough fight with Julio Cesar Chavez.
    RIP

Rest In Peace. I looked at his boxrec and he had a pretty good career, only stopped once.

That stoppage was a fluke too. He was in a clinch with Sammy Fuentas and Fuentas started jumping up and down and Fuentas dislocated Martin's jaw with his shoulder.

I remember his fight with Chavez, I think it was on the undercard of Moorer's IBF title defense against Vaughn Bean, Martin was three inch taller and Chavez weight the heaviest in his career at 151lbs.

I was just about to mention this- one of the craziest things I've seen. Fuentes always did that- jumping up and down in clinches- after that fight, but i don't remember him doing it before.
