Extent of Ray Arcel as a boxer?

I take serious issue with anyone who doesn't consider Arcel the greatest trainer who has ever lived... but I will confess to knowing very little about any fighting career that he ever had. Does anyone know about any amateur or professional experience?

I have a book about ray arcel that I read very quickly and I can reread the parts of his early life and get back to you on his fighting experience but I do recall it was fairly limited and he was training fighters at a young age and was fairly successful as a trainer when he was young. He trained benny leonard in his comeback in the late 20>s and roberto duran in the eighties so I wholeheartly agree with you that he is either the best or right near the top.
