Greek, I've only seen a small portion of Corbett's fight with Fitz and just a little bit of his exhibition fight with Courtney. I really can't accurately judge what I saw of Corbett because of those reasons, but he did look to have very good footwork ("glide" is a good word for it) and threw combinations with some regularity...But again, that's only from very limited viewing of him.
In regards to your question about how fast a fighter appears on those old fight films (which, depending on the man holding the crank camera's speed at which he turns it, could be either sped up or slowed down), all I really try to do is judge a fighter speed against his opponent's for that fight (which, if you have other fight footage of the fighters, you can compare down the line). I also do put some element of trust into what the old-timers said about a fighter or fighters, for the simple fact that they have seen those old-time fighters live and have room to compare.
