    Basilio candidate for toughest fighter?

LaMotta and Frazier usually top my lists, is there a spot for basilio at the top?

Only lost twice by stoppage, both to Fullmer at the end of his career. Tbh I would put Jess Willard and some of the really old school fighters above those guys though.

If by tough you mean an ability to absorb punishment and remain upright, Carmen was that. He was busted-up so often, his face sported more stitches than a baseball. The same could be said of Chuck "The Bayonne Bleader" Wepner, another tough guy.

I'm also reminded of George Chuvalo, yet another human punching bag. I place a higher premium on the type of tough guys who not only absorbed, but were equally adept at inflicting punishment... Fellows like Mickey Ward, Arturo Gatti and Jake LaMotta... And that's no bull!
