Duran may have won it regardless, but I am certain we wouldn't have seen the horrific drubbing we saw if Moore wasn't one-eyed from the first round on.....
While deconstructing Duran, let's not overlook the apparent low blow that ended the fight against Buchanan, thereby tainting his capture of the lightweight crown.

yes you are correct it was a brutal fight and one of the most disturbing aspects was the ref not stoping it when davey was clearly taking a unnessary beating.

Buchanan was going to knock him out in the next round.

        Duran got lucky.

Duran was winning the Buchanan fight and would have kept winning. The low blow didn't change a thing, except when and how the fight ended.

The thumb in Moore's eye happened almost immediately, and it ABSOLUTELY had an impact on what was to happen later on. Again, Duran was more than likely going to win, but doesn't murder the poor kid the same way if the kid wasn't half-blind.

The thumb happened. It instantly effected Moore.....that is not speculation!

This is coming from someone who loves Duran and thinks he's one of the best fighters ever. Just being objective about one of his fights here, so don't get upset.

Ernesto Magaņa is the one responsible for the kid's "murder" at the hands of stone, by not stopping the assault within 30 seconds of the 8th. round. Prior to that and despite the KD, the kid was holding his own and had a puncher's chance at turning the tables on his foe. By contrast Larry "Quick Hook" Hazzard would've stopped that fight seconds before the 7th-round KD. But I digress...
