      if it hits people solid a lot is generally a good way of telling.

      speed, some power accuracy etc as well, generally anyway. also needs to be used frequently.

        i would guess it would depend on the fighter and what they predominately use it for. Lennox Lewis and Mike Tyson both had good but different uses for the jab.

          The speed of the delivery, the accuracy, in some cases the power (Liston/Foreman) but most importantly the frequency/rate that it lands.

          More technical points might be how a boxer uses it to set up their combinations or how they are able to double or triple the punch.

            It's a punch that neutralizes your opponents initial offense and is the lead in of your offense. A great jab is offensive and defensive in its nature! Ray.

                    Lol not true Ali's jab never really was a come forward jab he'd either be steeping around or backing up with it. He'd also back hand a lot and he had a great jab.
