I still think Ali would have beaten him by a close but unanimous decision...

I think Foreman would have paced himself better but would have ultimately been outboxed.

Foreman would have KO'd Ali. After fight like that going right back into those punches without a long ass time to recover? That's almost a death sentence.

If Foreman fought a smarter fight, he could UD that Ali.

        IF.

But his confidence was ruined immediately afterward, he may well show up and give a token effort only to get knocked out again

Ali took FOREMANS SOUL THAT NIGHT. So it would have been a Ali decision unless Foreman fought him in the 80s or something like that.

Foreman would have paced himself better in a rematch, but in doing so his reduced workrate would give Ali more options to outbox him.

This would still be a ridiculously difficult fight for Ali, but I think he'd get the decision in a fight that might not look too dissimilar to Foreman vs Young.

Foreman would get beat up, may be not stopped but a easy UD for Ali, why?

Simply because Foreman was gone, psychologically he was dead. He actually said that he thought he'd died in the ring and been reborn to do God's work. Imagine Foreman going up against the man he believes killed him, in an immediate rematch, hell no. Ali would be riding sky guy, he was still in very good shape, damn, Ali would beat him and people would scream "FIX!"

No! That was immediately after the Jimmy Young fight, thats when he thought he was dying and had his religious experience. Not after the Ali fight.

This. Foreman would have fought at a slower pace, and Ali would have capitalized.

                  Ali simply had his number.

Foreman fought one of the lamest and most amateurish fights in boxing history that first time. While not being able to imagine him fighting worse than that atrocity, I don't see him making any adjustments that would work. He'd probably have not thrown many punches at all out of fear of exhaustion and further embarassment....and Ali woulda slapped him around.
