Was genes wins due to him having the proper style to be jack or was jack a bit over the hill at the time of their fights?

I alway though Dempsey was at the end of his career. Also he was inactive three years before the first match with Tunney.

As usual in these type of situations, a combination of both. Tunney was truly an ATG fighter while inactivity and the good life compromised Dempsey.
