The 147lb Hearns was his toughest test. He showed incredible grit turning the tables on a guy who stunned everyone by going from lethal puncher to master boxer. We didn't see Ray's usual flashy brilliance for most of the fight, but that was because of who was in front of him.

The fight with Hearns is his greatest performance.

he came out frontrunning and looking way too fast IMO for a 15 round fight, took a few punches, slowed down and got tough, and then the beast came out. some of the credit has to go to hearns, who is longer and stronger (and harder hitting with either hand,) than basically any WW you will ever see

they prepared for the right hand, but hearn's left hook was likewise a vicious punch.

The first bout with Duran was his best! He learned how to deal with adversity and found out he could "fight" with a good fighter in the boxing ring. It was a pretty close fight and Duran at that time was still mobil, strong and willing to win! That Duran was the best all around opponent he ever fought too. Ray.

For me it is between Hearns 1 and Hagler. I'll go with Hagler. That was an excellent performance after the long layoff, even though I had him losing.

The best fight he participated in for me was Duran 1, even more so than the first Hearns fight.

Him looking at his most impressive was probably against Green who he obliterated!

The Hearns fight (1) was his greatest moment though

Hagler was a GREAT win for him but then i scored it for Marvin so he aint getting that one, great performance given the circumstances regardless

I thought Leonard looked the best when he got his bur-head beaten badly by Duran. At least he came to fight in that one.

Hearns or Benitez, to knock out those versions of those two great fighters was pretty phenomenal. To go toe to toe with Duran in the first 1980 fight and not only take his punches and go the 15 rounds but to also make it fairly close was pretty special also.
