  • Ring IQ vs Skill?

    I'm a new fan and I can't really tell the difference between these two things. Whats the difference between Ring IQ/intelligence and technical skill? What are some examples of a fighter that has one but lack the other?

      Well to me its like this

      kinda what the poster before me said

      Zab has great skill, but below average IQ in the ring

      Khan good skill, but isnt smart enough to hold on

      you can be fast, powerful, great foot movement and combos

      but if you arent smart enough to choose when and where to use your skills and

      to set up your opponent in certain areas

      then you cant really be effect as you really can be

        Ring IQ = knowing what skills to apply in order to maximize your effectiveness

        Skills = abilities

        Tim Bradley showed good Ring IQ towards the end of the pacquiao fight. He figured out what to do to sweep the championship rounds.

          The outcome of "The Rumble in the Jungle" is one of the better examples of intelligence's triumph over skill. Ali outfoxes Foreman.

            No it isn't. Foreman had really crude skills. Ali had more skill and ring IQ.

            Foreman over Moorer is a better example, but that really came down to Moorer being ****** rather than Foreman outsmarting him.

              To me a fighters skill is his arsenal (e.g) Speed, movement, Combos, Counter punching abilities etc.

              Now here are a few examples of Ring IQ. Ring experience (e.g) how many years under his belt.. how well can he capitalize on his rivals mistakes.. if his game plan is disrupted can he adjust to change? fighting his fight and not his opponents fight.

              those are just a few that I can think of but i'm sure there's more.
