Its certainly possible that Hagler might have dominated the last three rounds if it were a 15 round fight. If he'd have won two of them he'd have retained his title (If my maths is right).
The thing is, you train for the amount of rounds the fight is set for and adjust your pace accordingly. If an extra three rounds were jumped on both fighters to their unawares after round 12, then yea.....maybe Hagler would have won. But Leonard was supremely conditioned, the finishes in both Hearns fights demonstrate this, you can't say for sure.
There are plenty of fights in history where a result would have been different given a further three rounds OR three rounds less. I'm pretty sure that I worked out once that Ali would have got the decision over Frazier in fight 1, if it had only been a 12 round fight. Hearns would have decisioned Leonard in fight 1 had the fight been 12 rounds. Ray Robinson would have beaten Joey Maxim and won the light heavyweight title if the fight was set for 12 rounds!
Some fights are just meant to be.Last edited by Sugarj; 08-21-2012, 09:11 AM.

Possibly, but knowing Ray, he would have more left in the tank than Marvin, who fell off what he was the last 3 years before their fight.

Now while I agree and I feel your right, tons of fights would change depending on the amount of rounds, did you see all 3 judges scorecards for the Ali-Frazier 1 and then deduce this? I've only ever seen the totals, I'm not trying to attack you or troll or whatever the kids say, I'm just curious.

As for the 15 rounds, its tricky. Marvin started the 12 rounds really slow and lost at least 3 of the first 4. If the fight had been set for 15 he might not have got started until round 6 or 7.
Pacing is a funny thing.
