ya see thats not even technically true,Dempsey i know would destroy Johnson

this is my opinion of Johnson a decent fighter, Jack Johnson fought in the early 1900's when the average fighter was 5'8-5'9, he was 6'0 which gave him an advantage he had some power, but because blacks where considered so inferior so horribley ****** and weak, when one black person was able to beat white people up it was like WOAH, doesn't mean he was really good it just means he was better then most of the opponenets back then and was blown out of proportion, he was good but not great
Dempsey and Marciano could both beat him and since tunney beat dempsey he could beat Jack Johnson, I've seen Johnson fight (the few i could) he was fast but it would be easy for marciano to get inside on him- in my opinion he technically shouldn't be on the top 10 greatest hw of all time and if any reason he should be its because he was the first black champion -- which is exactly what i said in a different thread

              Dempsey was better

Johnson is given a lot of credit for beating Jim Jeffries even though Jeffries had three years off and had to shed 80+ pounds for the fight.

Evander should not be #3 by the way.

Jeffries, who retired undefeated before he dropped over a hundred pounds and made his comeback in Reno, was so much more than a great white hope. He had a great jaw, stamina, and the strength of a brahma bull. He wasn't a KO artist, but he packed a devastating punch in each hand. Jeffries was probably the greatest physical specimen the ring produced. He was just a force of nature. You'd be better off comparing his strength to a similary sized bear than a human.

Maybe Johnson outpoints him if you pit them together in their primes, but my money would be on Jeffries to come through in the later rounds.

As for Dempsey vs. Johnson, I'll go with Dempsey who had superior punching mechanics and was lighter on his feet. Johnson was smarter, but Dempsey had power, chin, and was infinitely meaner as well as having a superior reach. I don't think Johnson would be able to stand flat footed and parry such a devastating puncher who would be ripping into Johnson's head and body like a starving hyena. If he tries to fight Dempsey on the inside,if he tries to clinch, well you know why they called him the Manassa Mauler. Dempsey would fight dirty: rabbit punch, go low, do anything it would take until he was warned and was in danger of being DQed.

Dempsey wanted it more than almost anyone, and when he was at his best few in history could hang with him. I don't think Johnson was one of those men. Too much intensity, quickness, and power.

Dempsey by early or midround knockout.
