Simon Brown was schooled early in his career by Marlon Starling. He was a great champion back in the '80's. Terry Norris got slaughtered by Julian Jackson. He then went on to a great career and even defeating Sugar Ray Leonard. Joe Louis got beat by Max Schmeling when he was younger and we all know that story...

Max Baer was thoroughly schooled and whipped by an older but cagier Tommy Loughran. Loughran would later become a mentor to Baer, who would later become heavyweight champion of the world.

I wouldn't say Azumah Nelson was "schooled" by Salvador Sanchez, but he did lose while a very green guy and then went on to true greatness.

Larry Holmes was schooled by Muhammad Ali through sparring if that counts. Vitali Klitschko was beaten by Lennox Lewis. Yes, I think Lewis would have still won if the fight hadn't been stopped when it was.

julio cesar vasquez beat up winky wright for a few rounds in their '94 fight, winkys first bid at a world title

                vasquez was a mean argenitne

bobby chacon stopped little red lopez early in his career. both are in the hall of fame, but bobby was not a veteran professional.

chacon was stopped by olivares who was a vet of over 70 fights. chacon was a two year pro.

When it comes to ATG's you have to look no further than Joe Louis and his first bout with Max Schmeling.
