We all know how well Bowe did when he was motivated against Holyfield. Well, imagine if he fought like that his entire career. How would Bowe have done if he weren't lazy, were better conditioned, and had "hunger"? Would he go down as an ATG, or would nothing change?

He had everything, he was one of the most talented heavyweights that has ever lived. He had a good chin, combinations, power, size. He could fight well at a distance or in close.
He just couldn't keep motivated! And his longevity was very much affected.
He most certainly could have become a heavyweight ATG. There is no reason why he should have lost the (very close) rematch with Holyfield. If he had come in the same weight as for their first fight, I think he would have won.
He could then have gone on to fight Moorer, early 90s Lewis and the comebacking Mike Tyson (All fights I'd pick a motivated Bowe to win).
Its a big shame that he never realised his potential. I can't think of a heavyweight in history who would have an easy night with the Bowe which beat Holyfield the first time round.

No sympathy from me for unmotivated fighters. It's part of being a pro. That's why I never buy into how great "the Bowe who beat Holyfield" or "the Douglas who beat Tyson" was. Truly great fighters have great careers, not just a great performance. I don't have much regard for Rid**** Bowe as a fighter or a person.

Eddie Futch said that he believed that Bowe could have been the best HW, ever, if he hadn't been so lazy. He also trained Bowe, so that statement may be a bit over-stated.
