    Puerto Rico 69 – 44 – 1 (40 KO’s)
    Mexico 42 – 69– 1 (24 KO’s)
The mythical "rivalry" consists of Puerto Ricans fighting too small, and/or too old, and or/not the best Mexican and or Mexicans who are like 2-4 in their last 6 fights. The most recent examples being jr welter Danny Garcia fighting a waaaaaay too old and small former super banty Erik Morales instead of Brandon Rios or Juan M Marquez. Miguel Cotto fighting a one eyed Margarito instead of the better Saul Alvarez. Wilfredo Vasquez jr fighting the too small, too old Ivan Hernandez instead of Orlando Salido. Ricans know this deep down inside---that is why with a straight face Ivan Calderon insisted that jr flyweight Giovani Segura fight the jr Banty Rican who lost to Argentine Narvaez instead of fighting Abner Mares who's his size. That's why Ricans with a straight face insisted to too old and too small former jr flyweight Jorge Arce that he fight an up and coming Rican featherweight instead of Orlando Salido. Furthermore, the population comparisons are very misleading because not all Mexicans have access and/or transportation to a boxing gym unlike Ricans and also unlike Ricans, most Mexican kids have to work for their food from a young age and don't have the time, energy, or calories to box.

You mean the I.B.O.? You have to specify. And you forgot to mention that Felix Trinidad got caught loading his hands with tape vs BHop in 2001.

Is this what you guys are resorting to now--- counting I.B.O. fights? Sigh...............

I can only assume same because even too old, too small Mexicans have been beating Ricans as of late and the record used to be about even.

A small island giving a large country of 100 million people trouble...

              and yes I admit...

It's pretty amazing how Puerto Rico, a very small island, competes with Mexico, a very large nation, in boxing.

I have nothing but utmost respect for Mexicans, and I hope this rivalry never ends.

Definitely one of the best things about boxing.

No trouble at all. You guys generally don't fight our best, of the same size, who are not like 2-4 in their last 6. Jamaica is smaller than P.R. ........if they had Puerto Rico's opportunities they'd do the same thing vs too small, too poor quality, too washed up Mexicans. Imagine Garcia vs JMM, Seda vs Mares, Luis Cruz vs Rios, Rocky Martinez vs Rios, Rico Ramos vs Salido, etc, etc. If we only fought the best vs the best there would be very few Rican victories. Even moreso, If Mexico's best didn't fight PR's best and instead fought the 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th best Ricans, the way y'all do, we'd literally have some deaths on our hands. In about 10 years, when the Asian kids now joining boxing because they want to be like Pac, their will be very, very few Rican champs........ if any at all..:cool2:
