Just wow what a sick ass fight. Very close too even though Patterson won the majority of thevrounds. True classic where Patterson fought the fight of his life. His combination punches were ruthless. I thought he easily won the first 4 rounds just outworking gatti until gatti landed that vicious right stealing that 4th with the knockdown. Round 5 was close as hell but felt gatti outworked him. I had it a draw as gatti fought strong late and even gave him the 10-8 the last round since he hurt Robinson badly twice. If it wasnt for gatti being dead tired I think he would have finished him. Hilarious how Robinson was doing the stanky leg at the end too. True classic! Just a prime example of gattis heart, chin, power and even his extremely underrated boxing ability! The boxing world will forever be grateful for a truely special warrior like gatti and its a shame Patterson busted after their two fights.

I agree with you. Gatti/Robinson I and II are tremendously entertaining fights. If I remember correctly, during their 2nd fight Robinson landed 70 punches on Gatti in one round! Also, in one of the fights, you get the great Larry Merchant comment about not wanting to face a platoon of guys like Gatti.
The first one was closer, but I think the 2nd one had its morbid charm as well since Gatti abandoned any shred of defense and seemingly enjoyed eating bunches of punches from the light-hitting Robinson all night long. (Granted, that description fits quite a few of his fights.)
Good stuff. Love the life and death battles Gatti became embroiled in during almost every other fight.
You should check out Gatti/Hutchinson as well. If I remember correctly, it was supposed to be a tune-up, but Gatti ended up bleeding like he'd finished 5th in an axe fight.

Gatti-Robinson 1 was just as great as the celebrated Gatti-Ward 1 in my opinion.
While no rounds were quite as amazing as the 9th round of the Ward bout, the action and competition was more consistent throughout.
I scored both bouts even BTW.

I love Gatti, but Robinson gave him a beating, twice. Only thing "close" about either fight was Gatti nearly knocked Robinson out at the end of the first one.
Gatti-Robinson 1 is my favorite fight of the entire 90s. 2nd fight was good too but Gatti just didn't have it anymore.
