Here is a funny one: Paul Williams vs Henry Armstrong at 147 (POLL)

The size atvantage in williams favor would be hilarious

11" in hight and 15" in reach

but i would favor homicide hank cause of his superior infighting

if he bobed and weaved to get inside the reach and height would be a disadvantedge for williams

and williams would be more than willing to mix it up as usual

would be really hard for hank tho IMO cause williams can hang with the work rate of hammerin

It's a weird one actually, The only thing being that back in Armstrong's day I don't think Williams would have been able to make the weight. Maybe he could, I don't know to be honest.

However, it's absolutely possible that Armstrong would be beaten. Sometimes, that type of height and reach difference in quite simply insurmountable no matter how good.

I would take the odds for this and put a large bet on Williams.

I speak from experience, infighting with a large volume of punches favors the shorter man with a shorter reach. Both of them will right up in each other from round 1 - whatever. Armstrong will be able to get off more punches, while mainting an arms in defense, while williams will be left wide open and will have throw looping punches that take longer to get there as opposed to Hurricane Henry. On the inside, shorter reach is better.

The thing about Williams, is that for someone who is very tall and lanky, he can shorten his punches up and can punch you in every angle imaginable. Do you remember how Wright tried to tie him up and was still being hit in places where he couldn't see? lol. Not only that but with Armstrong being so short, Williams could just box from the outside (its not like he couldn't, the dude is like 6'3 regardless of what hes officially listed at). Armstrong would have a massive uphill battle, TOO uphill to win IMO.

i don't think armstrong would have any problems landing big punches up the middle. he was not a one punch puncher, and williams had a terrific chin, but
armstrong would literally have a field day. williams was/is tall but if you gave him anything whatsoever he would give up his height and throw punches. did i mention giving up his height? lol

looking back on williams fights i cant help but notice the amount of unnecessary punishment he took. he couldn't make a defensive adjustment to save his life (other than turn up the heat, baby)

all of these guys landed everything from good shots to bombs on williams:
                  phillips
                  mitchell
                  lara
quintana in their first fight (if carlos quintana can get under williams stuff and land, will armstrong have any issues?)
                  wright (completely spent)
                  cintron
                  margarito

                  and of course martinez.

these guys landed all sorts of stuff on williams chin
and wright, margarito, quintana (first fight,) martinez, citron (four rounds, then he flew out of the ring,) lara, were all able to take his punches.

williams wasn't really a huge puncher, especially at WW
is he going to stop armstrong?
win a decision being so easy to hit?

i think paul wouldn't have much of a chance at all
but it would be a hell of a fight, if that makes any sense at all

it wouldnt be good for williams health if it went 15 rounds either.
                  real talk.

Williams could never have made 147 in Hank's day. PW would have massive height, weight and reach advantages here over a guy who barely weighed 140 for many of his welterweight fights. Armstrong has no history of beating a good fighter that size. Never say never but I go with Williams.
