Whats your take on him & his career?

Took some real interest in him just recently, find him great too watch and his defense in particular is great too learn from as an amateur.

A near - hof career, some great fights with Breland (Imo the 2nd fight was his), the Molinares fight was another disgraceful decision from the tosser Joe Cortez. Could of been more given his talent, luck just didn't seem to go his way for most of his career though.

I believe the ring named him 4th best Welter of the 80s which I could agree with.

Love Magic Man. He was a defensive genius, slick boxer and a very strong guy for his size. Not a ko artist but could def hit hard. He staggered Breland several times in the rematch and koed him in the first fight. Breland had a good chin. I think he'd kick Gayweather's ass today.

He was a rare breed indeed, a slickster who liked a good brawl.

Yep. He had 6 losses. 4 by Majority decision, 1 by Split Decision & the other due to a cut.

        Thats unlucky....

Have met Moochie many times and he is consistently one of the nicest boxers you will ever meet. He has a great sense of humor, loves to talk about the sport, and he seems to always have time for fans. Loved when he owned Honneyghan, that was really cool, and his destruction of Breland was also something I enjoyed. Plus he provided one of the most hysterical post fight interviews you will ever hear, after the Molinares "loss", it was Marlon Starling in the Twilight Zone, instant classic.

Knocked out? I wasn't even knocked down!

          Do I look wobbled?

It was indeed hillarious. "The ref didn't even count me out!" "He did count you out Marlon".

That Molinares bout was strange. I remember it and the interview well. The punch was not that late after the bell but it was a fluke knockout as Molinares disappeared after and Starling went on to bigger and better things, never getting stopped again.

I also remember Starling rising to middleweight to challenge Nunn and then
trying to drop weight to fight Blocker at welter. Blocker IMO would not beat Starling if Starling did not attempt to move up and back down again.

Talking matchups the only welterweights I would for sure favor over Starling are Leonard, and Mayweather.

Well Donald Curry went 2-0 against Starling, so you have to give him at least a chance...

I would give quite a few other guys a chance I am talking about guys that I would 100% favor to beat Starling

I though Starling learned a lot from the Curry losses
