yup Oliver Mccall, the atomic bull. He had quality sparring partners, that combined with too much partying, that's what happens.. it was a forebode to what would happen in the Buster Douglas fight.

McCall, like many other heavyweight contenders of the 80s, was a waste of potential. The man had a cast iron jaw and very deceptive and sneaky power...he could significantly hurt fighters with short, compact shots that you wouldnt expect to do so much damage, ie this video and the Lewis fight.

the problem was he was a drug addict and didnt train nearly as much as he could have. Sounds like a reoccuring theme in the 80s.

oddly enough, here he is in his 40s somewhat relevant in todays division. Unless Im mistaken, didnt Juan Carlos Gomez get his title shot after beating McCall?

who knew such a headcase could still be fighting and not getting murdered at his age. Hes hilariously slow now, but his durability and raw power still seem relevant.

It was Greg Page who dropped him.

The sparring session had to be stopped because he could not continue. In a real fight, it would have been ruled a K.O

Yeah Mike was really out cold from that. His eyes rolled back and he had to be helped up and out of the ring. He had to endure a medical suspension of atleast 4 months after that.
