  • Alexis Arguello's weight credentials

Which weightclass did he achieve most at? The most obvious answer looks to be 130, but at 135 he did beat Mancini and Watt and Boza Edwards also. He also got the decision, somewhat controversially, over Ramirez there. He reigned longer at 130, but the biggest names he beat were Chacon, Limon and Escalera and I think Mancini was a better fighter than all of them. Maybe only Chacon was as good as Boom Boom. Watt and Boza are about equal with Limon and Escalera, even if Escalera had a long title reign. Ramirez is def better than Limon and Escalera.

Actually, Edwards beat Limon and Chacon too, even if Chacon beat him in the rematch. Watt was a very solid fighter also and made Arguello go the distance for a first time in long in a title fight.

        130. Macini was extremely raw, in his first title fight, when he fought Arguello.

He was raw and inexperienced. He didn't know how to pace himself in long title bouts and thus got KTFO.
