Not being able to talk or move properly is difficult but it's not the end of the world. I know people who are worse off than he is, and are still content with their life. If he were actually a vegetable, as in not having any functions of the mind whatsoever, then I would agree. Right now he's just battling a tough condition, which gets worse and worse as the years go on, but you can live through it.

He's not doing THAT terribly. Yeah his words and movements are slower, but his mind isn't alright. I met him an autograph signing a few years ago and he still seemed pretty sharp mentally.
He's much better off than for instance, Wilfred Benitez.

I would not want to live life as a vegetable, life is hard enough being able bodied.
Just because you can't wipe your butt it does not make you valueless to your family or yourself.
Thousands of invalids are there, living and enjoying their life in their own way...What you or me think of constituents of happiness might not be actually an unalterable lists.
"We all have a disability of some kind; all are lacking in one way or another. Saul has an injury to his leg. What if his personality was deformed? How much worse if his soul was lame? Preachers or teachers look for the good in all of us. (Bless them for doing so.) I don't see a cripple. I haven't met anyone yet who isn't handicapped in some way. So what's the big deal? Don't hide your deformity. Wear it like a Purple Heart." - Georgiann BaldinoLast edited by Greatest1942; 08-28-2011, 01:23 AM.

The man's a fighter.
The challenge of living day to day, the struggle for survival, for consciousness and for some semblance of health, thats probably what keeps him sane and happy.
